How we’re incorporating Accessibility into Etuity Core

By Oksana Bogza

We are well on our way with implementing Etuity Core, our new marine insurance core system. And almost from day one, accessibility has been a natural part of the foundation.

Why? Because accessibility is not just about following regulations. It’s about people.
It’s about making sure our system works for everyone: whether they have long-term disabilities, temporary challenges or simply need smooth and intuitive user experience.

But accessibility is a broad and sometimes overwhelming topic. Where do you start?
For us, it starts at the strategic level

✅ Commitment from top management to embed accessibility as a natural part of everyday development processes
✅ Building a culture where accessibility is everyone’s responsibility.
✅ Ensuring that knowledge, tools, and training are in place across the organization.

And here’s how we’re putting it into practice:

  • QA Lead, together with Tech Leads, Front-end Lead and UX Lead, establishes clear accessibility standards and makes sure accessibility is built into quality from the start.

  • UX Designers include accessibility in prototypes and set clear guidelines.

  • Developers implement accessible solutions, test their own code, and ensure quality through accessibility checklists in pull requests, complemented by automated tools.

  • Testers validate with manual tools and screen readers to reflect real-world usage.

  • And our customers play a vital role by helping us verify usability and user experience.

We are still early in this journey with Etuity Core, but by starting now, we’re ensuring that accessibility isn’t something we “add on” later. Instead, it grows naturally with the system - making it robust, inclusive, and ready for the future.

Because accessibility is not just about compliance. It’s about respect. It’s about culture.
And it’s about making sure that everyone can use Etuity Core with confidence.

✨ We’d love to hear from others: how do you work with accessibility in your systems and organizations? Let’s share experiences and keep building a more inclusive digital world together.
